A Close Shave

June 13, 2007 |

Father’s Day is only a few days away! Why not make that special guy something this year? An classic shaving soap is something that most men can use, and he’ll be delighted to know that you made it especially for him. Unlike a lot of commercial soaps, this shaving formula won’t dry out his skin.

  • 1 Cup unscented glycerin soap
  • 2 Tb sweet almond/grapeseed oil
  • 10-15 drops essential oil*
  • 8 to 10oz coffee mug or shaving mug
  • Shaving brush (can be found at drug or health stores)
  • Ribbon or Raffia
  • Cellophane bag

Directions:
Place soap in a small pan over low heat and stir until liquefied. The soap can also be placed in the microwave in a microwave-safe bowl in 15-second increments until melted. Add mineral oil and essential oil. Slowly pour the mixture into the coffee or shaving mug. Let it sit for three hours or until solid. Place the shaving brush on top of the mug and wrap in a clear cellophane bag. Tie with ribbon or raffia.

*Favorite “male” scents include Sandalwood, Patcholi, Cedarwood, Balsam, Cinnamon, Clove, Lime, Orange and Lemongrass
