2010 HSMG conference

The Handcrated Soap Makers Guild (HSMG) will be holding its 2010 Conference in Denver, Colorado. It will be at the Inverness Hotel and Conference Center, April 30 – May 2, 2010.

Conference attendance is open to members and non-members of the Handcrafted Soap Makers Guild, Inc. The registration fee includes attendance to all classes, demonstrations and workshops, participation in door prizes, drawings and prize awards and optional participation in the Soapers Showcase. Meals and snacks are provided as part of the conference fee.

Registration starts on the evening of Thursday, April 29th and continues on the morning of Friday, April 30th. Conference classes and activities run all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday, culminating in the Annual Awards Dinner on Sunday evening.

Advanced certification opportunities

The Handcrafted Soap Makers Guild is offering Advanced (Level 2) Certification Testing will be available at the 2009 Conference and by Proctor testing starting June 1st. The Advanced (Level 2) Terms and Definitions along with Soap Evaluation forms for CP Advanced (Level 2) and MP Advanced (Level 2) are now available in the Member Area of the HSMG website. Practice written tests will be available shortly. Visit their website for all the details.

Solid bath and body products class

If you live in the San Francisco Bay Area and are interesting in a bath products class, Lori Stoia is teaching a Solid Bath and Body Products class in Redwood City, CA on May 30th.

Class description:
How would you like to learn how to make some of your favorite products in a solid form? In this demonstration class you will learn how to make a solid version of a lotion stick/massage bar, body scrub and bath oil. The class will cover packaging and other topics. Students will take home an extensive handout with recipes, resources and more, a two ounce lotion stick, massage bar, body scrub and bath melts. A materials fee of $20.00 (cash) will be collected on the day of class. Bring sack lunch.

Standard charge: $33.00 Senior, 60 and over: $26.00
Materials fee: $20.00
