You can’t get enough hearts this time of year so why not just go for it? Bath fizzies, though sometimes a bit temperamental, are popular with bathers everywhere, and although this tutorial doesn’t use any colorant, you could of course go crazy and make, say, green fizzy hearts for the big day. Here’s a clever tutorial from the Lovin Soap Blog that takes advantage of their nifty plastic bags to make 1 7/8” round soaps, perfect for a guest bath or a small gift. Ok, so this tutorial was done at the holidays several years ago…but I’ve made this balm again and again because the recipients asked for it again and again. It’s really that good. And did I mention easy? Amanda from SouleMama based her recipe on another, tweaking this and that. It feels pretty close to perfect for me – and would be a great Valentine’s Day gift! Fast and easy using melt and pour…get the lovely step by step tutorial here. The SoapQueen has done it again! And by the way, if you’ve never tried melt and pour, this is a great project to start with.

I’m Valerie Silverthorne, the new editor of the Bath and Body area here at CraftGossip. I decided to post a picture of my pig Elvis because he’s probably the most interesting thing about me. Of course, he has nothing to do with bath and body, well, other than the fact he could use a bath and if we decided to eat him, we could render the lard. Don’t worry, he’s quite safe — smart, talkative and cranky, he’s the mayor of our small farm and isn’t going anywhere. But back to me: I’m a cold process soaper and dabbler in the other body products, I live in the northeastern corner of Massachusetts in the US, and as you might have guessed, I live on a small farm. I’m excited to be here and to share the fun with all of you. Please feel free to email me if you find something the whole world should know about or if you have any other suggestions, advice or ideas. I’m a journalist by training and a blogger about my own small farm, but this is my first venture talking about the wide world of soap and bath products.

This is my last post as I will be commencing synchronising swimming this summer………….. Only joking I have started studying nursing to eventually become a midwife. I have enjoyed the last 12 months no end. Thank you to all who have read my words encouraged/corrected me on my grammar at times and just made this whole experience quite pleasurable. In a sense it has prepared me for study this year as it has been quite awhile. Before I leave some things to remember. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder…………BUT……. if you want to look as good as possible do this A – eat a balanced diet, B- drink lots of water and finally C – slip slop slap!!! The above combined with a skincare routine and you have all bases covered.
