We all have those evenings—exhausted from dinner, sports drop-offs, helping with homework that somehow involves fractions again—and the last thing I want to do is a 5-step face routine. This DIY castor oil cleansing oil is my shortcut to clean, soft skin and a little peace before bed.
Castor oil is a fantastic gentle cleanser because it draws out dirt and old makeup while keeping your skin’s natural moisture barrier happy. Unlike store-bought removers full of alcohol or synthetic oils, this blend feels like a mini massage and actually feeds your skin.
Ingredients:
- 2 tbsp castor oil
- 2 tbsp sweet almond oil (or jojoba oil)
- 4 drops lavender or chamomile essential oil (optional, but perfect for relaxing before bed)
Instructions:
- Mix everything together in a clean dropper bottle or glass jar.
- Apply a generous amount to dry skin and massage in circular motions. Take your time around eyes and jaw.
- Use a warm, damp washcloth to gently wipe it off. Repeat if needed.
- Follow with a splash of cold water and a light moisturizer (or not—it’s that nourishing!).
Tips:
- For dry skin, go 1:1 ratio. For oily skin, try 1 tbsp castor to 3 tbsp carrier oil.
- Safe for gentle under-eye makeup removal.
- Great as a body massage oil too—add peppermint or eucalyptus if using for sore muscles.
