Whipped Vanilla Mint Body Butter – Nourishing Holiday Moisture in a Jar

December 17, 2025 by Shellie Wilson Leave a Comment

DIY Christmas Skincare Gift That Smells Like the Season

The cold, dry air of December is no match for this Whipped Vanilla Mint Body Butter—a creamy, dreamy skincare indulgence that smells like a Christmas treat and melts right into thirsty winter skin. It’s everything you want from a seasonal moisturizer: fluffy like frosting, scented like a candy cane cookie, and packed with skin-loving goodness.

Made with rich shea butter, coconut oil, peppermint essential oil, and a splash of vanilla extract, this whipped body butter feels indulgent but is simple enough to whip up in under an hour. Add a dusting of mica shimmer for that frosted glow, and it becomes a beautiful handmade gift for neighbours, teachers, or anyone who needs a little holiday pampering.

Why You’ll Love This DIY Body Butter

  • Deeply moisturising for dry, flaky winter skin

  • Whipped to a soft, creamy texture that melts on contact

  • Festive vanilla-mint scent that smells good enough to eat (but don’t!)

  • Customisable for gifting—add shimmer, colour, or natural fragrance

  • No preservatives or fillers, just pure, skin-safe ingredients

  • Makes a thoughtful DIY Christmas skincare gift or self-care treat

Ingredients (Yields approx. 2 small jars or 1 large)

  • ½ cup shea butter (moisturizing + rich in vitamins A & E)

  • ¼ cup coconut oil (nourishing + melts into skin)

  • 2 tbsp sweet almond oil (light and hydrating)

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (or 5 drops vanilla essential oil)

  • 5–7 drops peppermint essential oil (cooling + festive)

  • Optional: ¼ tsp mica powder (silver, pearl, or pink for shimmer)

  • Optional: ¼ tsp arrowroot powder (for a non-greasy finish)

  • Clean glass jars with lids

How to Make Whipped Vanilla Mint Body Butter

Step 1 – Melt your base oils
In a double boiler or heat-safe bowl over a saucepan, gently melt the shea butter and coconut oil together until fully liquid. Remove from heat.

Step 2 – Add liquid oils and scent
Once cooled slightly (but still liquid), stir in the sweet almond oil, vanilla extract, peppermint essential oil, and optional arrowroot powder. If using mica powder, add it now and stir thoroughly.

Step 3 – Chill
Place the mixture in the fridge for 20–30 minutes until it begins to set (it should look opaque and scoopable—not hard).

Step 4 – Whip it good!
Using a hand mixer or stand mixer, whip the mixture for 5–7 minutes until fluffy and airy—like soft whipped cream.

Step 5 – Jar and store
Spoon into clean jars and seal. Store in a cool place and use within 3–4 months.

? How to Use

Massage a small amount onto clean skin—especially dry areas like elbows, knees, and hands. The butter melts instantly, leaving your skin glowing, soft, and beautifully scented. Best used after a warm bath or shower.

 Holiday Gifting Ideas

This body butter is ideal for:

  • Secret Santa swaps

  • Stocking stuffers

  • Teacher gifts

  • DIY spa baskets

  • Christmas market stalls

Pair it with:

  • Candy Cane Sugar Scrub

  • Snowflake Bath Melts

  • Gingerbread Lip Balm

  • Peppermint Foot Soak

Wrap your jar in cellophane, tie with twine and a mini candy cane, and add a label that says:
“Winter Skin Saver – Vanilla Mint Body Butter”
Add a printable tag that reads: “Sleigh dry skin this season!”

 Customise It!

  • Vegan version: Use mango or cocoa butter instead of shea, and swap almond oil for grapeseed.

  • Sensitive skin: Reduce peppermint drops to 2–3 or replace with lavender.

  • Add texture: Stir in crushed peppermint or sugar sprinkles (for decoration only—not scrub).

This whipped body butter recipe is one of those DIYs that feels fancy, smells divine, and costs less than a few dollars per jar to make. It’s a Christmas classic in our house—and once you try it, I bet it’ll become a holiday staple in yours too.
