Fancy Footwork

May 30, 2007 |

Warmer weather means it’s time for all those cute strappy shoes and sandals that have been hiding in your closet all winter. But are your feet ready? Here’s an exfoliating scrub that will help remove all that dead, flaky winter skin. This mixture is best used at night followed by the application of a thick and creamy lotion. Soak your feet in warm water 10 to 15 minutes before applying.

1 1/2 cups sea salt (don’t use this recipe if you have cuts on your feet!)
1/4 cup sweet almond or olive oil
5 drops peppermint essential oil

Combine the sea salt and oil. Add the oil by the tablespoonful until you can scoop it comfortably if the mixture seems dry. Add essential oils. Stir until thoroughly mixed.

Rub in a circular motion over your feet and ankles.  Rinse with warm water until none of the mixture remains. Follow up with a thick lotion, creme or body butter and sleep in your socks so the moisturizer is absorbed overnight. You may need to repeat the treatment until your feet are fully exfoliated and smooth.
