Once again I have been hit with a cold/flu thing. This time it has gone right to my throat and left me unable to shout at the kids which means they are getting away with everything.
I seem to be popping chemical tablet over and over again and really felt the need to find something natural for my body. Something natural other than garlic bread which tastes lovely but whilst my immune system loves the garlic my hips are not too sure about the carbs.
This DIY cough drop recipe from Bakeaholicmama.com is going straight into my recipe book.
Ingredients – Honey! Yes that’s it – just honey, nothing else.

When I saw your topic, I was hoping you had found something I could use, but am deathly allergic to honey. The only thing I have found of the natural variety is something that has been used in our family for generations. We called it vinegar candy. It is just boiled vinegar, sugar and a dab of butter. Only trouble is it takes a lot of time and effort to make it. Was hoping for an easier method.

You do realize that there are chemicals in honey, right?
The difference is that the chemicals in the commercial cough drop have actually undergone tests to determine the safety and the efficacy of the dosage.

So sorry, but don’t fret I have not forgotten you. Here is a recipe that doesn’t contain honey.

And this one has just 1 tbs so I think omitting it wouldn’t be too much of an issue

Let me knowing you make them and we can feature a non honey version with our readers.
