Gentle. Healing. All-Natural.
If your skin’s feeling tired, dull, or just a little “meh,” it might be time to treat it to something simple, sweet, and surprisingly powerful—like this homemade honey face mask.
This recipe has been a quiet favourite in my skincare stash for years. It’s gentle enough for mature or sensitive skin, but effective enough to detox pores and leave your complexion feeling baby soft. And yes, it only takes a few pantry staples.
Why Honey Is the Star
Raw honey is a natural humectant, which means it draws moisture into the skin while gently cleansing and soothing. It’s also antibacterial, making it a wonderful ingredient for acne-prone or inflamed skin—even those stubborn hormonal breakouts.
What You’ll Need:
- 1 tablespoon raw honey (Manuka if you have it, but any good-quality raw honey will do)
- 1 teaspoon kaolin clay (great for all skin types, especially dry or mature skin)
- 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar (optional for oily skin or clogged pores)
- A few drops of lavender or tea tree essential oil (optional for extra calming or clarifying benefits)
How to Make It:
- In a small bowl, mix the honey and clay together until you have a smooth, creamy texture.
- If using, stir in the apple cider vinegar and essential oil.
- Apply the mask to clean, damp skin using your fingers or a brush.
- Let it sit for 10–15 minutes (don’t let it dry completely—mist with water if needed).
- Rinse off with warm water and pat your face dry.
Crafty Tips:
- Use this once or twice a week, especially after exfoliating or before bed.
- Store leftovers in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 3 days (though fresh is best!).
- Swap kaolin for bentonite if your skin leans oily or congested.
Why You’ll Love It:
- No preservatives, no nasties—just pure skin food.
- It works beautifully as a gentle detox mask for menopausal or hormonal skin.
- You can mix and match the add-ins depending on your skin’s needs that week.
