Creepy Crawler Halloween Bath Bomb – A Spooky Surprise with Hidden Spiders!

October 15, 2025 by Shellie Wilson Leave a Comment

Looking to add a little frightful fun to your spooky season self-care? This Creepy Crawler Halloween Bath Bomb is the ultimate eerie bath treat—jet black, fizzy, and packed with hidden plastic spiders that crawl out as it dissolves. It’s creepy, it’s cheeky, and it’s just the right amount of trick in your Halloween bath-time treat.

Perfect for Halloween party favours, market stall sellers, or just for adding a little surprise to your October soak, this bomb combines skin-softening ingredients with Halloween magic in every fizz.

Why You’ll Love This Spooky DIY

  • Dramatic black water with skin-safe activated charcoal
  • Hidden plastic spiders that emerge as the bomb dissolves
  • Scented with Halloween-inspired essential oils like sweet orange and clove
  • Fun for kids, teens, or spooky-loving grownups
  • Customisable with glitter, shimmer, or different creepy critters
  • A creative and creepy addition to Halloween baskets or bathtime kits

Ingredients (Yields 2 large or 4 small bombs)

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup citric acid
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup Epsom salt
  • 2 tsp activated charcoal (cosmetic grade)
  • 2 tbsp melted coconut oil
  • 1/2 tsp water or witch hazel (in a spray bottle)
  • 10 drops sweet orange essential oil
  • 5 drops clove essential oil
  • Optional: silver mica for shimmer
  • Small plastic spider toys
  • Bath bomb molds (round or skull/cauldron shapes work great!)

 Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine baking soda, citric acid, cornstarch, Epsom salt, and activated charcoal. Stir until fully blended.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together melted coconut oil and essential oils.
  3. Slowly add the wet ingredients into the dry mix, stirring constantly to avoid fizzing.
  4. Begin spritzing with witch hazel or water, just a few sprays at a time, stirring as you go. The mixture should clump in your hand like damp sand when it’s ready.
  5. Pack one half of your mold halfway. Press in 1-2 small plastic spiders.
  6. Fill the rest of the mold and press both sides together firmly. Let sit for 24 hours to harden.
  7. Carefully remove from molds and store in a dry, cool place until ready to use.

 How to Use

Drop your Halloween bath bomb into a warm tub and watch it fizz away, turning the water a spooky black while creepy crawlers rise to the surface. Be sure to remove spiders after use and supervise young children.

Pro tip: Use glow-in-the-dark spiders for an extra spooky surprise if bathing in low light!

 Gifting & Party Ideas:

These make fantastic Halloween gifts. Here’s how to dress them up:

  • Wrap in black tissue paper with twine and a kraft tag
  • Place in clear cellophane with glitter and a spider confetti
  • Add a printable tag: “Creepy Crawler Cauldron Bomb – Drop in Water… If You Dare!”
  • Pair with Halloween bath salts, a mini pumpkin lip balm, or a Witch’s Brew scrub for a complete bath kit

These are also brilliant for spooky spa parties, witchy-themed goodie bags, or trick-or-treat swaps for older kids.

 Safety Notes:

  • Only use non-toxic plastic spiders made for water play
  • Avoid if using with very young children unless supervised
  • Always patch-test essential oils first
  • Store bombs in airtight containers away from moisture

Whether you’re hosting a haunted self-care night or selling seasonal goodies at a Halloween craft market, this Creepy Crawler Halloween Bath Bomb is guaranteed to raise eyebrows (and a few little screams!).

Here is an orange version, omit the Activated charcoal.
