DIY Deluxe Facial Oil

May 9, 2011 by Nellie Lee Luhrmann 5 Comments

DELUXE FACIAL  OIL

This deluxe facial oil may be used instead of a night cream or it may be applied under your moisturizer. Rich in oleic, linloleic and linolinec acids as well as a high concentration of vitamins A D & E This is an excellent facial oil for dehydrated skin types as well as mature skin. People often ask me why I look so young? It is because I use Facial Treatment Oils morning & night under my moisturiser. I always say “Don’t wait till you are older to use a mature range of skincare start in your twenties – prevent it ”

YOU WILL NEED

* 100ml glass bottle ( preferably amber to protect the precious essential oils from UV )

* 2 Tablespoons Avocado Oil

* 1 Tablespoon Jojoba Oil

* 1 Tablespoon Rosehip Oil

* 3 drops Jasmine Essential  Oil

* 2 drops Sandalwood essential Oil

* 3 Drops Ylang ylang Essential Oil ( there are many types go for the  “complete” blend )

PROCEDURE

1 Add the carrier oils ( Avocado, Rosehip, Jojoba ) to a glass bottle using a funnel.

2. Add  the essential oils and shake well

3. Apply to face & neck massage gently for 5 minutes or so to improve circulation, skin function and skin tone. Use a relaxed circular motion

4. Let sit for 10 – 15 minutes then dab off any excess with a cotton pad – alternatively if you are like me leave it on I always leave my facial oil on so that my skin sucks up as much of the goodness as possible.

5. Shake well before each use

    Great recipe! I recommend adding vitamin E as an antioxidant (will extend the shelf life of the oils). Apricot kernel and argan oils are wonderful for aging faces.

    I want to try this, but wonder what is the shelf life of the various oils? It appears that “a little goes a long way”, so it will take a while to use the avocado, jojoba, etc oils.

    I love, love, love your blog!! OMG, this is like heaven for me!! I have recently started making a multitude of different products and am loving all that you have to offer here!! Am definitely going to try a few recipes. I just made a gorgeous body bar which is like a shea/coconut butter mixed with beeswax bar to help cracked heels and hands. Going to blog it but haven’t done it yet as am still trialling it…..love playing around with new recipes!! Yayy!

    Should this be refrigerated? I have made it and use it 2x a day. I love it but am now seeing some brown residue in the dropper and bottle.

Perimenopause Calm Down Coloring Sheets (For When You Want to Scream into a Pillow)

Free Printable Downloads for Women 40+ Navigating the Hormonal Rollercoaster

Let’s be real—there are days when being a woman over 40 feels like riding a hormone-fueled tilt-a-whirl without the safety bar. Welcome to perimenopause, my friends. If you’ve ever found yourself sweating while standing in front of the fridge, crying over a puppy food commercial, or forgetting why you walked into a room (again), you’re in good company.

That’s exactly why I created these Perimenopause Calm Down Coloring Sheets—printable pages made especially for those “I swear if someone breathes near me I’m going to scream” moments.

What Are Calm Down Sheets?

These aren’t your typical mandala coloring pages. Nope. These were lovingly illustrated with women in perimenopause and menopause in mind—think messy buns, mood swings, and a whole lot of caffeine. Each sheet includes relatable cartoons, cheeky quotes, and stress-relieving doodles that are way more satisfying to color than pretending you’re fine.

They’re perfect for:

Rage coloring during a hot flash

Cooling down after snapping at your partner for chewing too loudly

Unwinding with a glass of wine and a pack of colored pencils

Quiet moments when your brain fog lifts just enough to enjoy something creative

Why Coloring Helps During Perimenopause

There’s science behind this, promise. Coloring helps lower cortisol levels, focus your mind, and gently ease anxious thoughts. It’s like a mindfulness practice, but one that doesn’t require Lycra or a meditation app subscription. And let’s be honest—when the world feels a bit much, giving a snarky mug or frazzled cartoon woman a splash of lavender and hot pink is downright cathartic.
