Dried Elderberries Soaps Recipe
This soap making recipes uses dried elderberries as an embed into your handmade melt and pour soap.
Elderberry is the dark purple berry from the European elder tree. The berries are used to make medicine such as cold and flu medicine.
The berries and flowers of elderberry are packed with antioxidants and vitamins that may boost your immune system.
Elderberry fruit contains high levels of flavonoids, which means it has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties making it perfect for acne-prone skin. The Vitamin a in it makes it great for wrinkles too. So this soap makes a wonderful face soap.
Supplies:
1/2 pound clear melt and pour soap, cut into cubes
1 tablespoon shea butter
1-2 drops of raspberry oil
10-20 drops lemon essential oil
10-20 drops rosemary essential oil
1-2 drops vegan purple soap colorant
2 tablespoon dried elderberries
Rectangle silicone mold
Spray bottle of rubbing alcohol
1 plastic measuring cup
Instructions:
Steps 1-2: Add clear soap to your measuring cup. Melt the soap base in the microwave at 30 second bursts twice. Add shea butter and continue to melt in the microwave in 30 second bursts to until they are completely melted.
Steps 3-5: Add essential oils, raspberry oil, and If desired, add vegan purple soap colorant to measuring cup. Whisk together. If you want a darker color, add another drop or two of the color.
Step 6: Whisk in dried elderberries.
Steps 7-9: Spray your soap mold with the rubbing alcohol.
This prevents bubbles from forming. Pour the soap mixture into the mold.
Stir the mixture in the measuring cup each time you pour, or they will clump at the bottom. Spray top of mixture with rubbing alcohol to prevent bubbles.
Step 10: Dry for at least 3-4 hours or until hardened completely. To release, pop gently from mold. Store in an airtight container or Ziploc bag until ready to use.
