Hey everyone!
Busy summer months are right around the corner, and I don’t know about you, but I don’t tend to get enough sleep in the summer with all of the activities and fun to be had.
Great news though, even though you might feel a little tired when life is busy, you don’t have to LOOK tired because I have a great DIY caffeinated eye serum recipe for you today!
Caffeine has long been thought to help diminish dark, under-eye circles and puffiness due to its ability to constrict vessels. It can also help revitalize the skin and help even out fine lines.
What I love about this recipe is that it’s SO easy to make. It takes just minutes to put together and man does it work well! As an added bonus, if you love the smell of coffee like I do, you’ll get to enjoy a nice, light coffee aroma every single time you use this stuff =)
For this recipe, you’ll need minimal equipment, most I’m sure you have sitting around in your kitchen.
Tools/Ingredients:
approx 1/4 cup – Vegetable Oil of Choice – I’m using Meadowfoam Oil
2 TBSP Coffee (fresh ground is ideal, but any coffee will do)
Clean Jar
Small Mesh Strainer -OR- Cheesecloth
Glass Dropper Bottles
How To:
1. Place 2 tablespoons of coffee in the clean, empty jar.
2. Add 1/4 cup vegetable oil of choice – I’ll discuss what I like to use in the next paragraph.
3. Close the jar tightly and allow it to sit for about a week – you can go longer if you want your serum stronger, but a week will give you good results. Gently shake your jar of coffee once a day.
4. After the week is up, strain out your coffee using a mesh strainer or cheesecloth. You’re going to really want to press out your coffee grounds as they can absorb A LOT of oil.
5. Place into smaller glass vial or roller bottle and use twice daily for optimal results.
Note on Vegetable Oils:
You really can use any vegetable oil you have on hand, but did you know that vegetable oils can help provide added benefits to recipes like this? I like to use Meadowfoam or Jojoba Oil for this recipe because they are both full of skin-loving vitamins and other constituents. A second note – please do not add essential oils to this recipe, they’re far too strong to use this close to the eye!
If you make this recipe, I’d love to hear how it turned out and how you’re liking it!
Happy Crafting!
