How to Make a Cannabis Bath Bomb at Home – Easy THC Bath Soak Recipe for Total Body Relief

There’s nothing quite like sinking into a warm bath after a long day—unless that bath also happens to melt away stress, soothe sore muscles, and help you sleep like a baby. That’s the magic of a cannabis bath bomb. Yes, THC-infused bath bombs are real, and no, they won’t get you high in the traditional sense. But they do deliver powerful localized relief, especially for aches, anxiety, and tired mum muscles (you know the ones—shoulders, back, and feet from standing all day).

As a crafty mum and wellness junkie who loves a good soak, I’m going to show you how to make your own cannabis bath bombs at home using clean, natural ingredients. Whether you’re looking to unwind after work, calm inflammation, or add a touch of DIY spa luxury to your self-care routine, this one’s for you. If you are new to bath bomb making, you can purchase a ready to go bath bomb kit and just switch out the oils for the homemade THC oil we make further down in the recipe,

What Is a Cannabis Bath Bomb?

A cannabis bath bomb is a fizzy self-care treat infused with THC oil (or CBD, if you prefer) that interacts with the cannabinoid receptors in your skin. These bath bombs offer targeted relief for pain, inflammation, and tension—all without the psychoactive effects of smoking or edibles.

Because the THC is absorbed through the skin and doesn’t enter the bloodstream in a significant way, you won’t feel “high.” What you will feel is soothed, softened, and seriously chill.

Why Make Your Own THC or Cannabis Bath Bombs?

Let’s be honest—store-bought weed bath bombs can be pricey, and they’re not always made with the cleanest ingredients. Making your own gives you:

  • Full control over the THC dose and ingredients
  • A chance to customize with essential oils and botanicals
  • That “I made this!” crafty satisfaction
  • And, frankly, a lot more fizz for your buck

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup baking soda (skin softener and fizz factor)
  • ¼ cup citric acid (activates the fizz)
  • ¼ cup Epsom salt (muscle relaxer)
  • ¼ cup cornstarch (binds the bomb)
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil (moisturizer)
  • 1 tablespoon THC-infused oil (see below)
  • 1 teaspoon water
  • 15 drops essential oil (lavender or eucalyptus are my go-tos)
  • Optional: mica powder or dried botanicals
  • Bath bomb molds or silicone muffin tray

How to Make THC Oil for Bath Bombs

To create the cannabis infusion for your bath bombs, you’ll need decarboxylated cannabis—that just means it’s been lightly baked to activate the THC.

THC-Infused Coconut Oil:

  1. Use 1 cup of coconut oil to 7–10 grams of decarbed cannabis.
  2. Heat on low in a double boiler for 2–3 hours (no boiling).
  3. Strain with cheesecloth and store in a jar.
  4. Use this oil in your cannabis bath bomb recipe or topical application.

Step-by-Step: How to Make a Cannabis Bath Bomb

  1. Mix the dry ingredients. In a large bowl, whisk baking soda, citric acid, Epsom salt, and cornstarch.
  2. Stir wet ingredients. In another bowl, combine melted coconut oil, THC oil, water, and essential oils.
  3. Combine gently. Slowly add wet to dry, mixing constantly to avoid fizzing. You’re aiming for a damp sand texture.
  4. Add your pretties. Mix in botanicals or mica powder if you want to get fancy.
  5. Mold and dry. Press the mixture into molds and let set for 24–48 hours.

How to Use a Cannabis Bath Bomb

Drop one into a warm (not hot) bath and soak for at least 20–30 minutes. Let the oils and THC soak into your skin—don’t rinse off! Light a candle, lock the door, and call it your mummy moment.

Extra Tips for the Perfect Weed Bath Bomb

  • Storage: Keep bath bombs in an airtight jar away from heat and sunlight.
  • Strength: Start with 1 tablespoon THC oil per batch and adjust from there.
  • Scents: Lavender for sleep, eucalyptus for sinuses, rose for a romantic soak.

Whether you’re aching after a workout, dealing with stubborn pain, or just want to feel like the queen of your own bathroom spa, a cannabis bath bomb is pure plant-powered bliss. Making them yourself is affordable, natural, and way more satisfying than grabbing one off a dispensary shelf.
