DIY Soap making kit by Emerging green
Soap making made easy with this soap making kit and mold
Making melt and pour soap is a quick and easy introduction to the craft, and it’s a great way to try soap
making because you don’t need a lot of supplies or time to try it out and see if you like it.
I wanted to make a larger than normal batch of soap for holiday gifting, so I was excited when Emerging
Green sent me their soap making kit and molds to sample.
The kit contains a wooden box with lid, a silicone mold that fits inside the box, and a bamboo and
stainless steel cutting tool with measurements on it so you can cut your soap to a consistent size.
The mold is 9.84 (L) x 2.36 (W) x 2.75 (H) inches, so it’s perfect for a good sized batch of soap that you
can easily make at home without a huge outlay in supplies.
I made a batch of pumpkin spice soap that almost filled the mold and used about a pound and a half of soap base. You of
course don’t have to fill the mold all the way to the top if you want to make smaller bars.
Once the soap is cooled and hardened, it’s easy to pop out of the mold.
The cutter requires a bit of assembly (you screw the bar into the base, then add the wire that actually
cuts the soap). I had a bit of trouble with the cutting but I think that’s because my soap was so dense
and the oats might have gotten in the way and I’m admittedly not very strong. But with a bit of patience
I was able to use it to cut the soap.
This kit would be a great gift along with some soap base and other basic soap making supplies for
someone new to soap making, or a good thing to add to your collection if you already enjoy making soap
and might like to make a slightly bigger batch than you are able to with individual molds.
The soap mold and cutter kit is available on Amazon.
Have you ever tried a soap mold or cutter like this? I’d love to hear about it!
