What do these four guys have to do with Nail polish? They are the creators of a Nail polish that changes color when it comes into contact with date rape drugs such as Rohypnol, Xanax, and GHB. The person (lady or guy) only has to stir the drink with the painted fingernail for it to complete the test.
Here is what the boys (young men) had to say:
“Through this nail polish and similar technologies, we hope to make potential perpetrators afraid to spike a woman’s drink because there’s now a risk that they can get caught. In effect, we want to shift the fear from the victims to the perpetrators. We are Undercover Colors and we are the first fashion company empowering women to prevent sexual assault.” (Source)
I know you are probably wondering why not just a little test kit? Well is a teenager girl really going to get out a little stick and do a test? Probably not. I know adults who have taken chances when stray men have bought them drinks. If only one of us had this nail polish on we could have tested it right then and there. I know a dear friend who would have benefited in using this product and would have been able to prevent years of heartache after an innocent drink led to a nightmare evening.
18% of women are affected by sexual assault and I am sure we all know someone so why is this product getting controversial coverage from feminists?
Tell me – would you wear it? Would you buy it for your drinking teenager/young adult?
