The Jagua extract is obtained from Jagua (Genipa Americana), an edible fruit native to Colombia’s tropical forests. The search for natural food colors has hit the jackpot with this natural blue dye. This natural blue dye is already being used in food in the US and is often listed as “fruit Juice” colorant rather than Jagua Dye.
So what does this mean for DIY crafters? Finally, a stable and natural blue colorant that can be used to make soap, bath bombs, lotions and more.
Jagua Blue Powder is still quite hard to find, here is one supply on Amazon, but it is mixed with citric acid. You can mostly find Jagua blue in gel form as it is commonly used for blue fake tattoos and henna designs.
When I used the dye, I added it to my liquid first to make the color liquid, You could experiment with adding the powder directly or even using the gels.
