10 DIY Frugal Laundry Detergent Powder Recipes

February 26, 2020 by Shellie Wilson Leave a Comment

Most of these frugal or money-saving soap detergent powder recipes use Borax, Soap Flakes and washing Soda. I like to add some Lavender or Eucalyptus essential oils to mine.

Eucalyptus essential oil has long been known for its antibacterial and antiviral properties, and it is an excellent natural stain remover. In addition to its practical uses, the fresh, invigorating scent of eucalyptus is a favorite of many. That’s why making your own eucalyptus laundry detergent is a fantastic option for those who want a cost-effective and environmentally friendly way to clean their clothes.

Buying in bulk can save you money in the long run, but it’s always a good idea to start with a small batch to test the waters. Making your own laundry detergent can be a fun and rewarding experience, and it allows you to have complete control over the ingredients you use. You can ensure that your detergent is gentle on sensitive skin and free from any harsh chemicals that may cause irritation.

When making eucalyptus laundry detergent, the key ingredient is, of course, eucalyptus essential oil. This powerful oil is not only great for removing stains and eliminating bacteria but also for its fresh, revitalizing scent. With just a few simple ingredients, you can make a laundry detergent that not only cleans your clothes but leaves them smelling amazing too.

Then when you fall in love with your handmade /homemade laundry detergent go ahead and buy everything in bulk to radically reduce your making costs. I love the idea of storing the liquid in water dispensers but make sure you have older children who know it is not a drink. Don’t forget the little ones who may visit your house too.

As for the powder, I actually keep my laundry powder in a big crystal vase, It’s kinda posh and fancy and I love it for my laundry.

If you are someone who has never made your own laundry detergent, do not worry! This process is straightforward and requires only a few ingredients. Once you have made a small batch of your eucalyptus laundry detergent and found that it suits your needs, you can easily scale up the recipe and make a larger batch.

In this tutorial, we will be walking you through the si

Is it cheaper to make your own Laundry Powder?

The cost of making your own laundry powder can vary depending on the ingredients you choose to use, the quantity you make, and where you purchase your ingredients. However, in general, making your own laundry powder is cheaper than buying it from the store.

For example, a basic homemade laundry powder recipe might call for ingredients such as washing soda, borax, and grated bar soap. These ingredients can typically be purchased in bulk and can make a large amount of laundry powder. Depending on where you purchase your ingredients, the cost to make a batch of laundry powder can be as low as a few cents per load.

On the other hand, store-bought laundry powder can be quite expensive, especially if you opt for a high-end or eco-friendly brand. Prices can vary greatly depending on the brand and quantity, but on average, store-bought laundry powder can cost anywhere from 20 to 40 cents per load.
