20 DIY Bath And Body Recipes Using Coconut Oil

October 10, 2021 by Shellie Wilson Leave a Comment

These recipes all use coconut oil, which means you can buy a bulk-sized coconut oil and make every single one of these recipes. I love being able to purchase a product or essential oil and have multiple recipes on hand for how to use it. It saves me from wasting products as well as allows me to often buy my supplies in bulk. Coconut oil is a white solid fat, melting at warmer room temperatures of around 25° C making it perfect for skincare.

Coconut oil helps bolster your skin’s protective barrier layer, trapping moisture inside and keeping skin supple and hydrated. Have you ever heard of coconut pulling?  It is when coconut oil is swished in the mouth and then discarded. Coconut Oil Pulling Can Reduce Bacteria in Your Mouth, so check out the toothpaste recipes below.

I didn’t really believe in pulling, until I started on a Keto diet and was using coconut oil for fat bombs. Not only did my inflamed calm down, but I was also able to toss out my sensitive toothpaste. I know it was the coconut oil as I stopped for a few weeks and straight away my teeth began to hurt again.

Coconut oil is great for hair as well as skin, you should be bathing, eating, and coating yourself in this wonder oil!

Coconut oil has anti-inflammatory properties, making it beneficial for irritated, chafed skin. Increases collagen production

Coconut oil is a versatile ingredient that can be used in a variety of skincare recipes. Here are a few ideas:

Coconut Oil Moisturizer: Simply mix equal parts of coconut oil and shea butter, then add a few drops of your favorite essential oil. Whip the mixture until it’s light and fluffy, then store in a jar. Apply to your skin as needed for a deeply moisturizing effect.

Coconut Oil Lip Balm: Melt together 1 tablespoon of coconut oil, 1 tablespoon of beeswax, and 1 tablespoon of shea butter. Add a few drops of peppermint essential oil for a refreshing scent. Pour the mixture into lip balm tubes or pots and let cool.

Coconut Oil Sugar Scrub: Mix together 1/2 cup of coconut oil, 1/2 cup of sugar, and a few drops of vanilla extract. Use in the shower to exfoliate and moisturize your skin.

Coconut Oil Hair Mask: Melt 1/4 cup of coconut oil and mix it with 1 tablespoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar. Apply to your hair and let sit for 30 minutes before rinsing out.

Coconut Oil Body Wash: Mix together 1 cup of coconut oil, 1/2 cup of liquid castile soap, and a few drops of lavender essential oil. Use in the shower as a gentle, moisturizing body wash.
