30 DIY Bath Salt Gifts Perfect For Christmas Stocking Fillers

November 14, by Shellie Wilson. 1 Comment

This roundup is about bath salts, not just any bath salts, but bath salts you can make at home and gift to friends and family. Bath salts can be very inexpensive to make and with a few tips you will be able to make 10kg of bath salt in less than an hour. So what do you need to make your own bath salts, 2 basic ingredients?    Salt  & Scent. Everything else is optional.

First decide which type of salt you want to use,  For budget purposes pool rock salt is the best way to go, especially if you are making bulk bath salts.  Looking for something a little more beneficial to the body then up your budget and use Epsom salts. Then for an extra special bath salt use pink Himalayan rock salt or magnesium flakes.

Once you have your salt sorted all you need is a scent. Again starting at the cheapest, I’d go with Lavender essential oil, highly affordable and has great properties for helping people sleep, anxiety, stress and even body fatigue. Next I’d suggest a tea tree oil for healing properties, also very affordable. At the other end of the scale, you could use rose oil or add dried botanicals for a herbal tea-style bath salt.

There are so many different ingredients you can use but one thing you will find is constant is the use of a glass mason jar for storage. The main reason for this is that mason jars are airtight, and your salt will draw up any moisture in the bathroom. So you want your salt jar to be free from any moisture.  Personally, I prefer plastic mason jars in my shower/bath area as things a slippery when wet.

For small quantities, for example, if you are using pink rock salt and botanicals in your bath salt you may want to consider using a small plastic test tube with a lid. These look a little extra special but you will need to take the cost of the test tubes into consideration as they are generally more expensive than mason jars. If you want to cut down costs completely then go for a cellophane bag or snaplock and leave the “airtight ” issue to friends and family.

When it comes to relaxation, few things can compare to the experience of soaking in a hot bath with homemade bath salts. Taking a luxurious bath with homemade bath salts can be a great way to relax after a long day and give yourself some much needed self-care. Here are just some of the benefits of taking a hot bath with bath salts:

1. Improved Circulation: Soaking in a hot bath with bath salts helps to promote improved circulation throughout the body. The heat helps to open up the blood vessels, allowing blood and oxygen to move more freely throughout the body. This improved circulation helps to reduce inflammation, improve energy levels, and reduce muscle soreness.

2. Stress Relief: Taking a hot bath with bath salts is a great way to reduce stress and relax. The heat and salts help to relax the muscles and reduce tension, while the soothing aroma of the salts can help to calm the mind. This can be especially helpful in reducing stress levels and improving sleep quality.

3. Improved Skin Health: Bath salts are great for improving skin health. The minerals and nutrients present in the salts help to draw out impurities and toxins from the skin, while the warm water helps to open up the pores, allowing for a deeper cleansing. This can help to improve skin tone, reduce breakouts, and give skin a healthy, glowing look.

4. Detoxification: Soaking in a hot bath with bath salts is a great way to detoxify the body. The heat helps to improve circulation and flush out toxins, while the salts help to draw out impurities and heavy metals from the body. This can help to reduce inflammation, improve energy levels, and boost overall health.

Overall, taking a hot bath with homemade bath salts can be a great way to relax after a long day and give yourself some much needed self-care. From improved circulation to stress relief and improved skin health, the benefits of bathing with bath salts are numerous. So why not give it a try and see what a luxurious soak in a hot bath with homemade bath salts can do for you?
