This roundup is all about body odor or DIY deodorants to be exact. So why am I talking about Body odor? Well, I recently had to attend my child’s classroom at the end of a hot summer’s day, and now I strongly believe deodorant is something that should be handed out free to all teenagers. I don’t know what it is with teens and preteens who can not smell themselves, I mean if I have body odor I can smell it myself right? Or not? Maybe I do have it and just can’t smell it? YIKES! that is even more reason to make sure you are wearing deodorant.
Over the recent years, we have been made aware of the dangerous chemicals in deodorant and studies have shown that some can cause cancer, so why are we continuing to put these chemicals on our bodies? I have to confess I have not been making my own deodorant, in fact, I have been buying this Sukin deodorant for a few years now as my natural alternative and I really love it. In fact, I dropped some extra bottles into my kid’s classroom for the kids to use. (they have a no-spray policy due to allergies) .
But according to my son, it is not manly enough. For someone who rarely uses soap in the shower (this is not proven, just my assumption) I do not know how he can be so particular. So the plan this week is to make one of or all of these deodorants until he finds something he loves and of course something that works and something the boys in his class would use.
If you decide to make your own, pop back and let us know how it went.

Your skin is your body’s largest organ, and what you put on it can be absorbed into your bloodstream. That’s why it’s important to be mindful of the ingredients in your skincare products, especially deodorants.
Commercial deodorants often contain aluminum, which has been linked to breast cancer and Alzheimer’s disease. Other common ingredients like parabens and phthalates have been shown to disrupt hormone function.
So what’s the alternative? Look for natural deodorants that are free of these harmful chemicals. There are many on the market now made with ingredients like coconut oil, shea butter, and beeswax. These products are not only better for your health, but they’re also gentle on your skin.
