33 Easy To Make Sugar Scrubs To Exfoliate Your Skin

August 15, 2021 by Shellie Wilson 1 Comment

Sugar scrubs are a simple and cost-effective way to pamper your skin at home. You don’t need to spend a lot of money on expensive skincare products when you can easily make your own sugar scrubs with just a few basic pantry supplies. These scrubs work by gently exfoliating the skin, removing dead skin cells, and revealing a soft, smooth, and glowing complexion. Additionally, sugar scrubs can help to moisturize and hydrate the skin, leaving it feeling silky and nourished. Whether you have dry, oily, or sensitive skin, there is a sugar scrub recipe that will work for you. Best of all, you can customize your sugar scrubs with your favorite essential oils and ingredients to create a truly personalized skincare experience.

Sugar scrubs are so easy to make you only need basic pantry supplies to be able to make a  Basic Sugar Scrub .

5 Tbs White sugar
1/2 tsp Olive oil
This scrubs is as simple as it can get, but if you are going to go to the effort of making your own sugar scrub exfoliant why not treat yourself and treat your skin by adding ingredients to suit your personal skin type. Eg, oily skin, dry skin etc. I love adding rosehip oil to all my skincare products as it really works well on hydrating my skin without clogging my pores.

You would be surprised what a difference a scrub can make to the feel of your skin.  So why do we need to scrub our faces and bodies? Exfoliation!  Exfoliation refers to the removal of dead skin cells on the skin’s surface. They don’t just fall away on their own. When old skin cells start to pile up on the surface of the skin, it can leave skin looking dull, rough, and dry.

Exfoliation with a body or face sugar scrub can help boost the health and appearance of your skin. Some other ways to exfoliate your skin, especially hard to reach areas are  with other types of products like an exfoliant brush or natural loofah,

I have included a roundup of lots of different variations, some things to keep in mind is who the sugar scrub recipe is for? What is their skin type?

Sugar Scrubs are great for gift giving too, I love gifting mine in small upcycled glass jars that can easily be grabbed in the shower or bath tub.

Why should you use a sugar scrub?

Sugar scrubs are a natural exfoliant, helping to slough away dead skin cells and promote cell turnover. This can lead to brighter, smoother, and softer skin. Additionally, sugar contains glycolic acid, an alpha-hydroxy acid that can help to improve skin texture and minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Sugar scrubs also help to improve circulation and increase blood flow to the skin, which can help to improve skin tone and radiance. Finally, the natural oils used in sugar scrubs help to moisturize and nourish the skin, leaving it feeling soft and smooth.

How often can you use a sugar scrub on your skin?

You can use a sugar scrub on your skin once or twice a week, depending on your skin type and sensitivity. If you have sensitive or dry skin, it’s best to use a sugar scrub less frequently, such as once a week. If you have oily or combination skin, you can use a sugar scrub twice a week to help exfoliate and remove excess oil. It’s important not to overuse sugar scrubs, as they can be abrasive and cause irritation or damage to the skin. It’s always best to start with a small amount and test it on a small patch of skin before using it all over your body.
