7 Moisturizing Hair Masks To Make At Home

September 8, 2014 by Larissa Coleman Leave a Comment

The hot summer months have passed and our hair has definitely seen better days because of it.  However, the crisp fall wind, and harsh winter cold will be no exception, so be prepared to treat your tresses with a little extra TLC.  We have found 7 different recipes for you to try out on your hair and hopefully they will help add a little extra moisture into those dried out hair locks.

Our hair is a crucial part of our appearance, and maintaining its health and shine is essential for a good look. However, with factors like pollution, sun exposure, and styling products, our hair can become damaged, dull, and dry. That’s why it’s important to give our hair the love and care it deserves, and what better way to do that than with a moisturizing hair mask?

Hair masks are a great way to nourish your hair and restore its moisture and shine. While there are plenty of hair masks available on the market, they can be quite expensive and often contain chemicals that can further damage your hair. That’s where DIY hair masks come in handy. Not only are they cost-effective, but they also allow you to customize the ingredients according to your hair type and needs.

In this post, we’ve gathered seven moisturizing hair mask recipes that you can make at home using natural and readily available ingredients. Whether you have curly, straight, or color-treated hair, there’s a hair mask recipe for you. These hair masks are easy to make, and most of the ingredients can be found in your kitchen pantry.

Let’s start with a banana and honey hair mask, which is perfect for dry and damaged hair. Bananas are rich in potassium, which helps to soften and moisturize hair, while honey is a natural humectant that helps to retain moisture. Mix together a ripe banana and a tablespoon of honey, and apply it to your hair. Leave it on for 30 minutes before rinsing it off with warm water.

For curly hair, we have an avocado and coconut milk hair mask that helps to define curls and add moisture. Avocado is rich in fatty acids and vitamins, which nourish the hair, while coconut milk adds moisture and shine. Simply blend a ripe avocado and a cup of coconut milk, and apply it to your hair. Leave it on for 30 minutes before rinsing it off with warm water.

If you have color-treated hair, we recommend a DIY hair mask made with yogurt and honey. Yogurt is rich in protein and lactic acid, which help to strengthen and hydrate hair, while honey adds shine and prevents breakage. Mix together a cup of plain yogurt and two tablespoons of honey, and apply it to your hair. Leave it on for 30 minutes before rinsing it off with warm water.

For those with oily hair, we have a DIY hair mask made with aloe vera and lemon juice. Aloe vera helps to balance the pH of the scalp, while lemon juice removes excess oil and adds shine. Mix together a quarter cup of aloe vera gel and two tablespoons of lemon juice, and apply it to your hair. Leave it on for 20 minutes before rinsing it off with warm water.

If you’re dealing with an itchy and dry scalp, we recommend a DIY hair mask made with tea tree oil and coconut oil. Tea tree oil has antifungal and antibacterial properties that help to soothe the scalp, while coconut oil adds moisture and prevents dandruff. Mix together a tablespoon of coconut oil and five drops of tea tree oil, and apply it to your hair. Leave it on for 30 minutes before rinsing it off with warm water.

Last but not least, we have a DIY hair mask made with egg and olive oil that helps to strengthen and nourish hair. Eggs are rich in protein, which helps to strengthen hair, while olive oil adds moisture and shine. Beat two eggs and mix them with two tablespoons of olive oil, and apply it to your hair. Leave it on for 30 minutes before rinsing it off with warm water.

By incorporating these DIY hair masks into your hair care routine, you can give your hair the nourishment it needs to look and feel healthy and shiny.

Kitchen Treatment for all Hair Types

Eat the right foods. Stock up your kitchen with foods rich in vitamin B, like eggs and soy products. Make sure your diet is rich in iron and vitamin C. Eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. Your hair is a product of the proteins and vitamins in your body, make sure both get the right nutrition. When shopping for hair care products, go to the fresh produce section. If you feel your diet is inadequate you can take Hair Vitamins to boost your system.
