9 DIY Cleaners For Your Entire House

August 17, 2014 by Shellie Wilson Leave a Comment

There are so many DIY cleaning recipes floating around the internet but these ones are all relatively new so hopefully, you can add them to your list of “new things to try”. Now I just need someone to come and clean for me.

Keeping your home clean is an important task, but it can also be quite expensive. With all the cleaning products available on the market, it’s easy to get overwhelmed and spend a fortune on various cleaning solutions. But what if we told you that you could make your own effective and safe cleaning products right at home? In this post, we’ve gathered nine DIY cleaners that can be used to clean your entire house, from the kitchen to the bathroom and everything in between. These recipes use simple and natural ingredients that you likely already have in your pantry, making them a cost-effective and eco-friendly option for your cleaning needs.

Let’s start with the kitchen, which is often the most used and messiest room in the house. To clean your kitchen surfaces, we recommend using a DIY all-purpose cleaner made with vinegar, water, and essential oils. Vinegar is a natural disinfectant that can help to kill bacteria and viruses, while essential oils like lemon or tea tree add a pleasant scent and extra cleaning power. For tougher stains and grime, you can make a baking soda and vinegar paste, which can be used to scrub away dirt and grease.

Moving on to the bathroom, we have two DIY cleaners that are perfect for tackling soap scum, mold, and mildew. The first is a simple mix of baking soda and water, which can be used to scrub the bathtub, shower, and sink. The second is a vinegar and tea tree oil spray, which can be used to disinfect and deodorize the toilet, shower curtain, and other bathroom surfaces. Both of these cleaners are non-toxic and safe to use around children and pets.

For your floors, we recommend using a DIY floor cleaner made with castile soap, vinegar, and water. Castile soap is a gentle and eco-friendly soap made from vegetable oils, while vinegar and water help to cut through dirt and grime. You can also add essential oils like lavender or peppermint to add a fresh scent to your floors.

If you have carpeted floors, you can make a DIY carpet cleaner using baking soda and essential oils. Simply sprinkle the baking soda on your carpet, let it sit for a few minutes, and then vacuum it up. The essential oils will help to freshen up your carpet and leave it smelling clean and pleasant.

Moving on to the laundry room, we have a DIY laundry detergent recipe that’s both effective and affordable. This recipe uses just three ingredients: washing soda, borax, and a bar of soap. Simply grate the soap, mix it with the washing soda and borax, and store it in an airtight container. You can use this detergent for both regular and HE washing machines.

Last but not least, we have two DIY air fresheners that can be used to freshen up any room in your home. The first is a simple mixture of baking soda and essential oils, which can be sprinkled on carpets or placed in a small dish to absorb odors. The second is a DIY room spray made with water, vodka, and essential oils. Simply mix the ingredients together and spray the mixture around the room for a fresh and inviting scent.

By making your own DIY cleaners, you not only save money but also reduce your exposure to harmful chemicals and protect the environment. These cleaners are easy to make, effective, and safe for your family and pets. So why not give them a try and see how you can transform your cleaning routine today?

I hate cleaning but most of all I hate paying for chemicals that could harm my family. I use vinegar the most as a homemade cleaner, it is cheap and works a dream. It is great for getting your glass clean too.  I have recently bought a Ryobi battery window cleaner and it is amazing. I use a ammonia solution in it for streak-free windows.   If you give any of the recipes below a try PLEASE come back and tell us how you rate them.
