August 8, 2023 by Shellie Wilson Leave a Comment

Making lavender tea with fresh lavender sprigs from your garden is a delightful way to enjoy the calming and soothing properties of this fragrant herb. The process is simple and can be done in just a few minutes. In this recipe, I will show you how to make lavender tea with fresh lavender sprigs from the garden.

Ingredients:

3-4 fresh lavender sprigs
2 cups of water
Honey or sweetener (optional)
Lemon wedges (optional)
Directions:

Harvest the lavender sprigs
Select 3-4 fresh lavender sprigs from your garden. Be sure to pick the sprigs in the morning when the oil content is at its highest.

Rinse the lavender sprigs
Rinse the lavender sprigs under cool water to remove any dirt or debris.

Heat the water
Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a pot or kettle.

Add the lavender sprigs
Once the water is boiling, add the fresh lavender sprigs to the pot or kettle. Allow the lavender to steep in the water for 5-10 minutes. The longer you steep the lavender, the stronger the flavor and aroma will be.

Strain the lavender tea
After the lavender has steeped in the water, strain the tea through a fine mesh strainer to remove the lavender sprigs.

Sweeten and garnish (optional)
If desired, add honey or your preferred sweetener to taste. You can also garnish the tea with a lemon wedge for a refreshing citrus flavor.

Serve and enjoy
Pour the lavender tea into your favorite teacup or mug and enjoy. You can also serve the tea over ice for a refreshing summer beverage.

Tips:

Be sure to use fresh lavender sprigs for the best flavor and aroma.
If you do not have access to fresh lavender, you can use dried lavender instead.
Adjust the steeping time to your preference. For a stronger flavor and aroma, steep the lavender for a longer time.

Experiment with different sweeteners such as agave nectar or maple syrup.
