DIY Microdermabrasion with HoMedics

November 30, 2016 by Shellie Wilson Leave a Comment

I am one of those people who never goes to a salon or beauty place. I will be honest with you, I have 2 reasons.

#1 –  I hate being touched by strangers.

#2 –  I hate paying ridiculous amounts of money to be touched by strangers.

When the opportunity came to do a review for homedics.com.au, I jumped at the chance. I already have quite a few of their massage products including this neck massager  and this back massager. But when I saw the HoMedics Radiance Microdermabrasion device I got that giggly “omg, I am going to love this” feeling and  knew I had to request it.

So fast forward past all the paperwork and to the day it arrives. I was tempted to do an unboxing video, but clearly I didn’t have any patience as I just ripped in to the box without thinking. Sorry maybe next time guys.

So what is this magical (Dolphin Shaped) thing I speak of?

The device helps you rejuvenate a smoother, firmer, healthier looking skin in just 3 weeks!

How does it work I hear you ask?

This device uses salon grade diamond tips to exfoliate, whilst the vacuum massage removes dead skin and stimulates regrowth of the new layer of skin underneath, leaving you with a healthier, silkier, more radiant looking complexion. It can also assist with other skin conditions by decreasing blackheads, treating oily and enlarged pores, improving acne scaring and diminishing fine lines and wrinkles. Safe and gentle, it is perfect for face, neck and hands. Quick and easy to use, it is clinically tested to improve overall skin texture with 5 minute treatments, two or three times a week. It retails for $199.95RRP.

What do I think?

So, I have only just started trying it out and here are my first impressions.

Although the instructions remind you that using the product may cause redness and not to use before heading out on a big night, I couldn’t help myself and tried it straight away 🙂 . Did I get the redness? Yes, but it went down after 10-15 mins (and my skin is quite sensitive).

Here is my before shot. Notice that lovely pimple on my chin?

After just 3 days – my complexion is brighter. I really haven’t done a whole face session at any one time. So I am looking forwarding to trying it out properly over the holidays when I don’t need to be anywhere.

So what do you actually do with it?

You run the machine over your skin! It’s like a vacuum that sucks up the dead skin and the little head buffs it off. It does not feel abrasive in any way. I was surprised how gentle it was. You do need to pull your skin tight in certain “saggy” areas to use it effectively.

My daughter wanted to try it out so we did a test spot on her nose. Her nose was peeling from sunburn. It lifted off the dry skin in 2 seconds and left no redness. She kept rubbing her nose saying how soft it was. Definetly some pampering coming her way these holidays.

Product available with assorted stockists including Myer, Shaver Shop, Good Guys, Betta Electrical and other good retailers.
