DIY Skincare From Your Own Refrigerator

April 15, 2020 by Shellie Wilson Leave a Comment

Beautiful skin doesn’t have to be found in a bottle or at the dermatologist’s office. Many fruit and vegetables benefit your internal body, as well.

Skin Care From Your Refrigerator is a great way to maintain and treat your skin during isolation and lockdown.

Taking the time to treat yourself is a great way to unwind too.

Beautiful skin doesn’t have to be found in a bottle or at the dermatologist’s office. Many fruit and vegetables can benefit both your internal body as well as your skin. Start now, and your entire body will glow!

Vitamin C and Your Skin

Vitamin C plays an important role in fighting free radicals in the environment. Why is this important? Free radicals damage not only your skin but also your immune system. Eating food rich in vitamin C will help your insides, as well as your outsides! So what foods are rich in vitamin C? Oranges, tomatoes, broccoli, papaya, and mango, of course. But there is one vegetable that gives you triple the Vitamin C of an orange: red pepper. Remember, color and eat a myriad of colors daily for unlimited benefits.

Fruit As An Exfoliator

Most of us think exfoliating products for the face need to be grainy to be effective. The truth is that acids found in fruit can have the same effect without the harshness of a scrub. Three fruits to try are papaya, strawberries, and grapes.

To use papaya as an exfoliator:

1. Mash with a spoon or fork until juice runs out.
2. Using a cotton ball, soak up the juice and rub it on freshly cleansed skin.
3. Leaving it on for 10 minutes before rinsing.

As for strawberries and grapes, after mashing, apply to skin and leave on for 10 minutes. Whichever fruit you choose, the benefit will be a healthy glow at a very low price.

Wrinkle Fighters

We all know sun exposure causes wrinkles, but can foods we eat everyday fight wrinkles? Dr. Mehmet Oz lists the following fruits and nuts as wrinkle fighters. “Apricots, cantaloupe, lemon, pecans, almonds, and sunflower seeds.” These should be part of your grocery list every week to minimize wrinkles.

Refreshing Your Skin

After a long day, a simple refreshing of your skin may be all you’re looking for. Here are two simple fruits that can be found at your grocer year-round: either cantaloupe or pear. Mash the fruit with a fork and rub on your face. Leave on for 10 minutes and rinse.

Body Scrub

Your face is now glowing, but what about the skin on your body? Try this quick recipe in the shower for minimal clean up:

1. Combine 1/2c. Sugar with 3 tablespoons of grapeseed oil.
2. Add a small amount of fragrance oil if you wish.
3. Massage this gently into your skin and rinse!

It’s that simple. Don’t forget to moisturize your skin when it’s still slightly damp after your shower.

Benefit Your Wallet

If you shop department stores or discount stores for your skincare products, the cost adds up quickly. Try these simple, all-natural treatments and save your money for something fun for you or your family.
