DIY Solid Perfume Lockets Tutorial

These solid perfume lockets are a perfect and practical addition to your handbag. Not only are they easy to make, but they also allow you to carry your favorite fragrance wherever you go. All you need are a few simple ingredients, including beeswax pellets and essential oils, to create a solid-scented perfume that sets beautifully in lockets, mint tins, or any small container.

Here’s how you can make your own solid perfume lockets:

Materials Needed:

  • Beeswax Pellets
  • Carrier Oil (e.g., Jojoba oil, coconut oil, or almond oil)
  • Essential Oils (choose your favorite scent or blend)
  • Small Containers (lockets, mint tins, or any small container you have)
  • Double Boiler (or a microwave-safe bowl for melting the beeswax)
  • Stirring Stick or Spoon
  • Measuring Spoons

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Prepare Your Containers
Begin by selecting your container for the solid perfume. If you’re using lockets, mint tins, or small glass jars, make sure they are clean and dry before you begin. If your containers have a lid, be sure it fits well to keep the scent fresh.

  2. Melt the Beeswax
In a double boiler, melt 1 tablespoon of beeswax pellets. Beeswax serves as the base for the solid perfume, giving it a firm texture. If you don’t have a double boiler, you can use a microwave-safe bowl, heating the beeswax in 30-second intervals until melted. Be sure to stir it occasionally to prevent it from burning.

  3. Add Carrier Oil
Once your beeswax has melted, add your carrier oil. For every tablespoon of beeswax, you will need about 1 teaspoon of carrier oil. The carrier oil helps dilute the essential oils and gives your solid perfume a smooth texture. Stir well to combine.

  4. Add Essential Oils
Now for the fun part—adding fragrance! Choose your favorite essential oils and add 15-20 drops, depending on how strong you want the scent to be. You can use a single essential oil or create your own custom blend. For example:

    • Lavender & Vanilla for a calming, sweet scent
    • Citrus Blend (lemon, orange, or grapefruit) for an energizing fragrance
    • Rose & Sandalwood for a warm, floral aroma
Stir the mixture well to ensure the essential oils are evenly distributed.
  5. Pour the Mixture Into Containers
Carefully pour the liquid mixture into your containers. If you’re using lockets, mint tins, or any other small container, be cautious not to overfill. Leave a little space at the top to allow for setting.

  6. Let it Set
Allow your solid perfume to cool and harden for at least 1-2 hours. You can place it in the fridge to speed up the process. Once set, the perfume should be firm and solid to the touch.

  7. Use and Enjoy
Once your solid perfume is fully set, you can apply it by rubbing your finger over the surface and then onto your pulse points, such as wrists, behind your ears, or the back of your neck. The fragrance will linger, and you’ll have your signature scent with you all day long.

Tips:

  • You can experiment with different essential oils to create unique scents that match your mood or season.
  • Keep the perfume lockets or tins in your handbag, car, or office for a quick touch-up during the day.
  • Solid perfumes also make great gifts! Simply customize the scent and package them in a beautiful locket or tin for a thoughtful present.

Now, you’re ready to enjoy your personalized, natural, and solid perfume!
