Soapwalla – Review

March 23, 2011 by Nellie Lee Luhrmann 3 Comments

WHO IS SOAPWALLA?

Proud member of VeganEtsy, EtsyVeg, and CreateAbility Teams. Soapwalla was born one evening in the NYC kitchen apartment of  now Brooklyn based Creator, Founder &  Soapwalla Chef Rachel Winard. Soapwalla’s organic soaps and body products are specifically designed to cleanse with natural ingredients without stripping the oils that our skin naturally produces. Rachel has always had a creative streak, fascinated by the healing properties of plants and foods her entire life, it came as no surprise when office life didn’t work out well for her that she dedicated herself 100% to the experimentation and creation of Soapwalla’s products. Soapwalla is a proud member of the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics’ Leaping Bunny Program (which administers a cruelty-free standard for companies producing cosmetic, personal care, and household products). Soapwalla is also an approved member of the Caring Consumer Program. When she’s not in the kitchen making cosmetic culinary delights, you’ll find her playing violin, composing original works, hanging upside down on a trapeze, or practicing ashtanga yoga. I LOVE IT!!!

HOW IT ALL BEGAN

Rachel who after months of unsuccessfully hunting for face and body products that would not aggravate her sensitive skin issues caused by lupus, an autoimmune illness. Made it her  objective  to make the highest quality products available. Her products  made with organic, vegan, food-grade ingredients, are  free from harmful or synthetic additives such as petrochemicals, parabens, pthalates, and sodium lauryl sulfate. Soapwalla’s  mission is to “FEED YOUR SKIN” . Rachel strongly believes that  the skin is our  largest organ and in order for it to function at its best, we must feed it with wholesome ingredients. If you were to refuse to put something IN your body, Why would you put it ON your body ?

WHAT IS AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE

Using natural oils, clays, powders, botanicals, and essential oils. Everything is made by hand in small batches in Rachels apartment kitchen – She is always borrowing ingredients from her spice jars, refrigerator, and shelves to ensure quality, freshness and the utmost attention to detail. Soapwalla gift bags are the ideal gift for someone special, and come wrapped in a reusable silk organza bag, complete with handwritten note on vintage paper. Also available are  face and body oils, indulgent bath salts, hand and body wash, all-natural deodorant cream, body polish, and a veritable feast of organic vegetarian glycerin bar soaps. For more information on each product, please go to Soapwalla’s Website or pop on over to ETSY

YOU HAVE MAIL

Always one for trying new products I was pretty excited when Rachel emailed to tell me I had a package coming my way.

When a box of goodies arrived containing

Restorative Face Serum

Luxurious Moisturizing Body Oil

Organic Shea Butter, Tangerine & Clay Facial & Body Soap Bar

Organic Rosewood, Cedar & Clay Facial & Body Soap

I wasted no time in trying them out.

I loved them all but my favorite  was the “Body Oil”. The  bottle I had contained about half a tablespoon of oil  I was skeptical at first thinking how would this tiny amount  do my whole body. Well wasn’t I wrong I did my whole body 3 times over!!!  The oil is highly concentrated, a little went a long way (  And I have curves ) I massaged it into my  slightly damp skin after I got out of the shower. I could not stop sniffing myself . My skin was super soft and even by the end of the day my skin was still hydrated. VERY IMPRESSED !!!!!! If I were you I would buy some right now!!!!

I am a bit hesitant when it comes to soap alot of people’s soaps claim to be free from nasties and they usually leave my skin stripped. Not these soaps I used them both successfully  on  my face & body. I used them on my kids too as I  do not use harsh detergents or soaps on them full stop. No dry, stressed out skin screaming for moisturizer. I even stepped it up a notch to see what would happen if I didn’t moisturize after cleansing and well my skin was absolutely  A-OK no breakouts, no itching… nothing but happy skin. I will also add that if it easily foams it’s a no go zone for me. I had to work a little harder than commercial soap  to get a lather and again I had no problem with that. I left the soap in the dish to see if it would go all soft and unusable and just as suspected it was as I had left it the night before……. in solid form no wastage . If you are looking for a gift idea look no further. Looks good, smells good, feels good……. It’s a no brainer.

The “Restorative Face Serum”  well,  having recently undergone surgical menopause my face and body are quite distressed with all the craziness of HRT .  My face was so soft after using this oil. Suffering from redness is another downfall I am experiencing of late. This serum calmed my face down, no itching too. I went out with my GF’s over the weekend and after posting pics on FB people commented on how much of a “glow” my skin possessed. A little goes a long way with this oil too. Big thumbs up here 🙂

In a nutshell I love Soapwalla’s Work and recommend it to everyone, especially those of you who suffer from skin conditions and are conscious of your body and our planet.

Soapwalla’s products are excellent.I have examined them enough to ensure you of their purity of ingredients and yet–THEY WORK! These are so much better than most gutless organic products. The company also passes my BKTA (Be Kind to Animals) test. This is something I take seriously these days. Products in the line I have used for some time are the deodorant, the resotrative face serum, the soaps, and the bath salts. Indulge and enjoy–guilt free!
